Seems I stand corrected. Sorry if I offended anyone.

No Offense taken. I just want to make sure the car is represented for what it is.

In the earlier 1980s it was quite common for the speedos to be swapped out. Those were the days of the silly 85 mph speedos and few tolerated that for long. I ultimately picked up a new 170 mph speedo at the factory in 1986 (with ring) and put it in my 1981 911SC-turbo. (I was tired of pegging the speedo that stopped at 150--it was speedo number 2). When I put mine in I went down to my local speedo shop and had them put the actual miles on it when I installed it,--to avoid just the sort of thing you're concerned about. Not everyone follows the rules, however!

Smile CAR SOLD

I know a few of you guys wanted to know what my Dad's car sold for as you have Carrera 3.2s.

Well it finally sold about 3 weeks ago. The car was picked at the dealer where he is buying his new 2010 GT3. Many of you will be happy to hear that the sale price of the car was $29,000.

Thank you everyone for your advise....and if you are in the Northeast enjoy what is left of the sports car driving season.

We all cannot wait for the new GT3 to arrive next week. (Its time to move over to the dark side but we still have our factory 930s slant nose to enjoy)

That's more like it. I'm glad to see that car sell for what it did in light of the current economic times. I have an '89 3.2 that is in the same condition but I'm not the original owner. I do have fewer miles (21,000) but otherwise a original stock unmolested car that has never been in salt. The undercarrige is still like new. I did not buy this car as an investment but to drive and enjoy.

That being said it is comforting to see these cars hold their value. Sort of justifies the original outlay and the ongoing spending to maitain these fantastic cars. I still believe that original unmolested cars will continue to be in demand and as these cars get older...more so.

You mean it was "traded in" for 29,000? What did you pay for the GT3?

This is what I was wondering too. Did he get a discount on the GT3 or is he paying full MSRP?

As far as the 3.2.....it was sold on consignment for 29,000 so yes in a way it was effectively "traded in" at that price.

As for the 2010 GT3 - I think it is MSRP. In our minds this is the only current 911 that could replace a 3.2. the regular 997s are too much like a grand tourers and not as much of a raw sports car like the 3.2s are.

The question is, if you paid full MSRP for the GT3, did you really get $29,000 for the 911?

If everyone is paying full msrp for a gt3, you did great. If folks are buying gt3's for 15k off msrp, then you effectively got $14,000 for your car...

What are gt3's selling for?

I am sorry I must have misunderstood the question.

Yes, the GT-3s are selling at MSRP.

Irrespective of Trade-In, somebody paid $29,000 to the dealer for the car. Right?

So the days of the $60,000.00 dealer up-charge are over?
