Post Tweeks Parts list prices.

Are you guys happy with the Tweeks Parts list prices.
I'm new to Porsche and still getting to grips with the cost of ownership.

I've been eagerly waiting receipt of the Tweeks Catalogue.
I've now just received it, and whist I love the contents, I'm aghast at the parts prices.
In US $ I'm blown away by some of the costs - $1000.00 for a dash top!, $800.00 for a steering rack! $160.00 for a brake master cylinder kit! I paid half that in Aus $ on my other mistress - a '62 TR4.

Yet $13.00 for those miserable gas hood struts is about right, and when I compare the hood crest for the Porsche @ US $27.00 to that of the TR $300.00 Aus, well, I'm baffled.

Cheers,
Sean.

Thumbs up

I agree 100% with your comments, there doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to the pricing. I guess supply and demand have something to do with it. Honestly I have better luck with Performance Products www.performanceproducts.com

Keep on shopping!!

Tweeks has some funky pricing. I ordered a 911SC cold start valve from Porsche for around $50, and Tweeks sells it for like $150. I like to check Hendrick Porsche in Charlotte, NC (USA) for Porsche parts, as they sell at 20-30% off list, which often puts the price below other sources, and it has the 2 year Porsche parts warranty. 800-315-8193 (no affiliation, etc)

Tweeks has the highest prices that I have found. PelicanParts and Paragon Products have the best deals in my opinion. 81'SC

If you know part #'s http://stoddard.com , the prices aren't cheap, but the service and selection s the best.
For mediocre service and high prices go to Performance or tweeks. They have great catalogs...
For Excellent service and very fair (if not great) prices go to Pelican or Parragon.
For low low prices and hit or miss service check out http://vertexauto.com or http://eurowebparts.com

There are many places out there. Just pick up a copy of Excellence and flip through it.
YMMV

I have been looking at the following Web site and the parts seems to be quite reasonable.
http://thepartsbin.com/

Some of the prices are 1/2 that of other porsche sites. Has anybody ordered parts here?

Sean Hamilton,

Tweeks and Performance are both extremley expensive!

Tweeks origanlly started in INDY and then added 2nd store in California. At that time Tweeks was a good place to shop. After severals years of them being around they were bought out by a Covertte company in Illionis.

The best part place for me is GPR < German parts and Restoration>. You can find there 2 page add in Excellence.

Good luck and happy price hunting!

Oh well, ours is not to reason why, but just to do or buy. Thanks all.
I only get those mag's for the pictures anyway - no wonder it came in a plastic wrapper.

I have used the Parts Bin for all my brake parts.

Very impressed with the pricing and the service.
