Default FS: 1988 911 Targa $10K (not mine)

This car isn't mine, but at this price I wish it could be. Anyway, it is in the town I work in and I would be happy to look at it for someone.

Moderate oil consumption? I think I know what that means.

runs excellent with moderate oil consumption like all vintage 911’s.

hmm.. i have one of those like all vintage 911s and i don't even consume 1 litre over 5,000km. I wonder if his is like mine ?

I bet this is one of thopse carreras with the valve guide issues ..

I spoke with the owner and he said it burns a qt of oil every tank. But he also said it hasn't gotten any worse in the 25K miles he has owned it. He said the compression is still correct however. I will take a look at it if anyone is interested, but I understand if people are worried about it.

I actually know the car come to find out. It isn't that nice! The interior is torn to pieces. Matt Romanowski knows the car as well, I bought some parts from this guy for my 924S and I saw the car then.

When you have to top up oil every time you fill up for gas, you gots a problem.

Valve guides? You have to give the seller credit for stating the issue....price probably takes the oil consumption into account, although could be pricy fix- upper end rebuild or total motor rebuild? And after spending the money to fix, the car won't me worth $10K plus the money needed to fix it correctly. Looks like a good car for someone who can do the work themselves though...

and if it isn't the valve guide it could be the oil scraper ring. If that's the case the pistons are coming out $$$$ . But good on the owner..

Except I wouldn't call that "moderate" oil consumption.
