Default What is the Value of your Porsche?

Hey Fellas,

Just got off the phone with Progressive and they advised that they obtain "ACTUAL CASH VALUE" from Kelly Blue Book Classic Valuation or NADA Guide.

Here is what Nada Guide states current value of my baby is:

Fair = $16,600 to Excellent = $24,800.

Here is a link if you want to know: http://www.nadaguides.com/default.as...2&m=1144&da=-1

Well with all the money I put into her I am glad I am not upside down yet

When KBB or the NADA guide sends a guy to buy one of my cars at the prices they say I'll start giving a crap about what their sites and books claim the cars are worth.

Wow. They are hallucinating but if they'll give me the average retail, consider it sold.

Original MSRP: $22,960 Low Retail Average Retail Value High Retail
Base Price $15,600 $17,800 $23,200
TOTAL PRICE $15,600 $17,800 $23,200

Those are all retail prices, so if your not a used car sales man or don't have something really special then you can forget about getting that price. Private party value is usually half way between trade-in value and retail. That is what your car is worth. I felt their prices were pretty accurate for retail.

Am I not automatically a used car salesman when I try to sell my used car? Well I thought it was funny. Anyway, my car is priceless... to me, even in pieces.

About 1/3 (on a good day) of what I have into it. The good news is I've got "agreed upon value" which didn't add much money to the premium. I'd definitely get more if it's stolen or totaled than what I could sell for.

I'm with Travelers, and have "Actual Value" coverage for $17K on my '82 SC. They required an appraisal, which I provided to them. Since that time I did my relatively costly whale tail/chin spoiler conversion, so right now if the car was stolen/totaled I'd be a bit upside down.

I was really surprised to see their valuation between "average" (about $19K) and "high" (about $25K) for my car. My car is far closer, by description/condition, to the high value. A friend of mine who has been looking for an early 997 Cab recently told me that after a short period of diminished value, he has seen SC prices begin to climb again, which is interesting given the current economy.

I'm not surprised in the least bit. If you haven't noticed there are less classic 911s on the road each year.

1986 M491 Widebody Cab - $24,500-$27,200-$34,200

It's a gray market car, so subtract, I don't know, $5K?

The car was valued at $30k back in 2000. It's all an academic exercise, though. Comes down to the buyer and seller.

---Sounds like a viable [if illegal] business plan there somewhere...

Seems like these numbers are even higher than they were a year ago when I was shopping... I ended up spending half average retail.... obviously these numbers don't take recent economics into consideratin.

excellence values ae pointless and a waste of news print..and insurance companies don't care about how many " classics" are on the road today. they just depreciate until there is nothong left . i would like to see ANYBODY get close to these numbers in a setllement or sale.
