Default Tachometer failure

Has anybody experienced this? I'm looking at a car with a dead tach and in all my years I've never seen it. Thoughts / experiences / causes / solutions?

You can have a tach funeral. Either that, or send it in to Palo Alto Speedometer?

wow , the first thing I would do is throw in a good know n tach to determine if it is the tach itself, or the wiring or sender unit. .. But what do i know ...

whoa whoa whoa....I was being halfway facetious with my remark. If you happen to have a second tach then yes. Otherwise swap one with a buddy. Or borrow Iceman's spare tach.

all joking aside, if you don't have the wiring schematic, we can probably figure out how to post it here.

Let us know BZ, if you need the wiring diagram. I guess I ought to look for deals on a spare tach?

Yeah, no worries, I've got a good tach or 2 kickin' around. I have just never heard of one quitting. The bloody wire probably came off the back!! or something stupid. I've got the Bentley manual for diagrams etc... thanks.

Mine sputtered a couple of times during the winter and then stopped completely for a week or two. I didn't do anything and it started working again and has been working fine ever since. Sender?

My tach woud just die, down to nothing, then pop back.

Send mine out to NH Speedo, and 2nd time around they replaced the guts & fixed it.
