Default 74 TARGA

Hey guys, just added a '74 targa to the 98 c2s I already have and have a question. What do I need to do to convert the bumpers to the pre-impact smaller bumpers? Is there anyone who has done this to their car already?

They just seem silly, and I like the '73 and down look much better.

Admittedly, I am late to this thread, but I enjoy the early cars and love the idea of a conversion. I really like the 964 conversions. I can't think of a better 911 project.
sorry nothing of substance to add - just moral support.
Good luck.

.. and just a counterpoint.. I HATE the 964 bumper conversion . it makes the car look visually unbalanced and when I see these cars I think they all look like Jay Leno. MAssive chin that looks out of proportion with the rest of the car.
That being said i think Porsche recognised this in the 90-94 cars and when the 993 came along they got it just right ..

+1 on going to early bumpers

You already have the classic 911 shape with aero/modern look in the c2s wide body.

a slimmed down/lightened looking 74 targa would be a nice compliment to it.

was that a 964 slam or what?

just kidding around....having owned several 911's and my old 83 silver/black 911sc being one of my favorite cars, my 964 is a very nice ride and i grew to really appreciate it's looks.

yes the front bumper has a large appearance but i really like the looks over the earlier cars...

suspension feels alot better than the earlier cars and has more modern functions like climate control and better defroster make it nicer to drive in winter.

everyone has their opinion but i suggest you test drive one and check it out for yourself

I like the looks of all Air-cooled 911's that have not gone through the Miami Vice or Craigslist treatment.

Front of the 964 reminds me of the Ruf "Yellow Bird"

Now are we going to see pcitures of your 74?

John
