Default I have a little buddy in the 997 section who needs a real man's help.

He posted a question regarding how to move wires around in the fuse box and no response. Told them to try us...where real men and women still do their own oil changes. If you can give him a hand...and have fun with the 997 people it would be great.
BTW its "unplugging fuse box wire" by silverfox.

If I am supposed to take this seriously, I would suggest not.

I saw that on the 997 board. Kinda odd. I haven't had the need or desire to do it so I'm no help as usual.

Blessed are the check writers, for they shall keep the economy moving...

I hear that the 997 is a heck of a ride BTW.

Well I guess beack in the 80s the pansy *** check writers were the Carrera owners to the guys driving 914s.
BTW I am sure the comments by abe were quite tongue in cheek . But nevertheless he owns them . opinions expressed by individuals are not the responsibility of this board ..

no Soup for Abe ...... 1 year !!!!!!!

I'm taking the designer check book cover off my checks and hiding my pansy-*** looking pen.

BTW, did the guy ever get his answer? I looked but couldn't find the thread.

Well, lets just say nobody over there asks if $600 is too much to change the oil... I dare you to post that question and then justify how necessary it is to have a Porsche mechanic do it. While your at it...my birthday is coming up soon...designer checks accepted.
Rusnak, the guy was able to modify his plans and resolve the problem.

I wouldn't know what that would come out to, maybe $400 per hr shop rate? Over here, $600 is almost too much for a set of 4 tires.

An oil change on a 997 at a dealer costs about $150. I've had 2 of them done already.

Yes, of course I can change the oil myself, but while the car is in warranty there is no way I'm going to take the chance of being denied a warranty claim because they have no record of service being done. A receipt from Autozone for an oil purchase is not sufficient documentation. It doesn't prove what car the oil went into, or that you drained the old oil properly, used proper torque, etc.

Also, a large portion of new Porsches are sold or traded in when the warranty runs out, and I plan to sell mine as well when it does. Most prospective buyers of 997's are pansy-*** check-writers (myself excluded), and they will not take a shine to a car that has been owner maintained. They want to see a dealer-pampered car. And getting a CPO warranty might be difficult otherwise. That's easily worth $150 once a year for 4 years to me.

And that is how it is justified, my friend.

i gotta tell ya a little while ago one of our local guys got his oil changed on his 997 for close to 500.00 at the dealer .. and a 993 owner payed in the neighbourhood of 475.00 dealers will atke anybodys money as long as they are willing to give 500.00 for an oil change.
That is my car budget for the year !!!! and I NEVER hit it .. I barely went over that when i blew up my air box .. and ended up with a completely refurbished CIS and intake.

Do a seach...the average oil change for a 997 is NOT $150...people are getting charged between $400-600! Maybe they are little hungrier in Colorado...but East and Left coast...hahaha at $150.

A while back I was doing a price comparison between one of the local shops and the local Porsche dealership here in Colorado Springs and the dealership wanted $200 for an oil change (double of what the local shop charges) on my 911.

I can only imagine how much they would charge for a 997 but I have to believe that it is higher than my 87. So 911Dave, that's really not a bad price.
