I am not sure how much it ia worth but what a great long term project that could be.

My gut says its worth around $4500. I watched (rather bid on) an early 70's 911 T at a live auction last year. It was fairly complete, with newer fuchs wheels and ran poorly, but it did run. It was also pretty solid. I was hoping to steal it for around $3,000 but someone bid it up to $4650. I could be a little off for you though, because I'm pretty sure the '72 commands a little premium.

Not bad for a Blackberry Curve in a dark barn...

I do not envy your Pelican experience. I do not believe it is helpful to bash people. It gets you nowhere. Having said that, I agree there are a few people over there who are not positive people, and it might be more healthy to avoid them when you are taking on anything remotely challenging or unique.
I have had a pretty decent experience on Pelican in the Engine Rebulding Forum. This was in the "main arena" where I guess the homeless live.

I am tempted to try and go forward with the '72, and while I realize the work (and potential spend) is substantial I have always had a soft spot for the early 911's in blue...

I am thinking between 3 and 5K myself. Now if the seller agrees that would be even better - we shall see...

I checked out your post on Pelican.

The Mustang is a '65. Looks to be a pretty nice car too. You'd really have to check the rockers, torque boxes, and frame rails for rot though. Provided they are in good shape, the car could fetch a nice $.

Yes, the wrinkle is that the 'stang and the 911 are owned by two different folks. So no quantity discount

I agree with the sub $5K assessment, more if it runs.

Based on the ominous positioning of that black oil drain pan under it, the engine probably doesn't run. Either way, it will need some serious preflight before anyone tries to fire it up.

Holy crap I just read the other thread ..thanks for condensing it for us

I think the 3G idea is about the right one . Because this could be a money pit and you may need to cut your losses early. But even if you just got it running and cleaned up it would be worth it for that.

Good luck

Quite right. The batteries have been removed and some basic duct taping was done on the intake and exhaust, but otherwise I do not know yet.

Funny that I had read the Pelican thread at lunch and thought: "Great, another train wreck where a seemingly straigtforward and interesting thread gets diverted by some wannabe thread cops..."

I've read many of those threads there lately, it's too bad.

As for this car... very interesting. If you could pick it up for around $3-$4K that would be enticing (in my not-expert opinion). Definitely appropriate for someone looking for a long project.

I look forward to hearing what the owner wants to sell if for. My fingers are crossed for a nice, low price!

My fingers and toes are crossed as well. I expect to engage this week.

Good Luck Chris
I hope it works out.

I wanted to post this on the bird board but things got a little out of pocket
