Default Useful and Helpful tools, gadgets, widgets and doohickies

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a thread about useful and unusual tools.

For Porsches yes, but also useful and interesting tools and gadgets. This thread might appeal to the mechanically inclined, the tinkerer, or the gadget guru in all of us.

First is the 36 degree valve adjusting tool, and Ed's pictures of his (along with his trick feeler gauge).

Here's a Stahwille pin extractor tool that allows you to remove the pins from the wire motor harness. It is the only way to remove the mirror without cutting the wires or trying to detach them under the dash.

Here's one that I made to remove stubborn dust caps that won't come off with a large Channel Lock pliers.

Here's one that really worked well:

Plywood board bolted to an ATV jack to remove and re-install the engine.

I used the nylon strap with a ratchting tightener to keep the engine secure until it was safely out of the car.

have you ever had to remove the wires from the plug on the back of your Blaupunkt stereo? Here's how that's done. It's easy once you know how.

No pics, but two items that have come in handy:

2" muffler clamp to remove stubborn front axle dust caps. You can buy these for a couple of bucks at any auto parts store.

I also have a trashed DME crank sensor that I epoxied on a shim that is of the proper clearance from the flywheel. Mount this sensor to the mounting block, and then tighten the block with the shim touching the flywheel. Easy to get it right, especially if changing a sensor with the engine in place.

I have one of these Rotary 4 Posts. Makes a lot of jobs way easier on the aging back, plus it allows me to keep an extra car in the garage. Makes R&R of the 356 engine a twenty minute, no heavy lifting job.

wow, Uber that is a very nice lift. You could probably do wheel alignments on it too.

Here's a little doodad that I carry around with me. It is useful for opening packages at the office, and it makes quick work of packaging straps and such.

Thumbs up

PepBoys:

AFM AFR adjustment tool. Caution do not over torque when AFR is completely in it will break the flex coil.

It's nice not having to constantly use a magent to fish out the droped 3MM Allen Wrench or rubbing my finger raw against the housing
