Default Where does this wire go in the engine bay?

How about the wire in these photos? Looks like a ground and a power wire. I put some Scotch tape on there and wrote, "Alarm?" but I don't think that is correct. It seems to go to the right of the car. Any ideas? It's a 1981 Targa with pretty much every option except for a tail.

It goes into the engine wiring harness. It has 2 female bullet connects on it that I have taped up.

Well - I've got a few wires trailing off of that harness, but my harness has been electrical taped several times over - looks a tad rough.

The wire that I have lying between the metal fan shround and the air filter box is connected to metal strip on the right side of the orange duct. It almost appears to be a ground of sorts - but it's not a bullet connector.

I have another wire, which looks closer to your bullet-style connector, going to my timing sensor for my Megajolt ignition system. The sensor monitors a sprocket connected to my pulley and sends RPM info back to the ignition computer. On a regular ignition I guess this would go the distributor.

I'm assuming that's a 3.0, right? Is the engine running?

The 3.0 engine runs fine with the exception of a vacuum leak and leanness. It's stock. I was reading something about the engine purging the carbon canister at times with air and the diagrams appear to have a line running from the canister to the fan shroud. My shroud has a hole in it there but no line or electrical valves. Is it suppose to for emissions?

Well I had my entire CIS out of my 78 and saw nothing like that. And I had the wiring harness in bits. But that said I have no options like Cruise, AC, or the light underthe tail. That doesn't even look like a bosch style connector.

The holes in the engine shroud on mine are used to fasten down the braided ignition wires. The wires have rubber "holders" on them and push into these holes

The heater motor is connected and works. It had one of those plastic rectangular connectors on it.

The connectors seem old and the wiring all seems factory too.

Is there suppose to be any connection there on the carbon canister?

I found that the wire goes to the connector in the engine compartment relay panel on the left side of the car. It is connection #10 for the engine wiring harness connector. Could some one check this in the factory manual? The Bentley does not have enough detail.

I am fairly sure that would be for a thermovalve, which you don't have anyway!

If you figure it out please let us know. I have the same connectors going nowhere of on my 81. Maybe the 911 manuals on this site have more info. I have trouble reading the wiring diagrams. www.cannell.co.uk/Manuals.htm
