Outstanding pictures.

A very valuable reference for those doing restorations. I loved the Ralleigh Car with all the lights. Some funy things too , like the guy smoking as he bolts the engine together . Thanks for sharing.

While he didn't bring it home, he did get this car several years later. It now has a 3.6 supercharged in it. The mechanic had different ideas as to what was best, and last seen it was covered with dust. Last on the road/track in 95.

You can almost smell the gear lube in the air. And I love the dyno shed and no straps to hold the cars down. Those were the days!
But it seems that all the 914's had their wheels stolen...

Very nice images. Thank you!

Look at all the bright colors! People had imaginations back then...go to the factory now and all you see is an ocean of gray, black, and white Porsches. The factory didn't look much different than that when I first visited in 1988 when they still used the old assembly line, but on my most recent visit in 2005 the place was unrecognizable...robots whizzing about everywhere.

Why are there 914s there? They stopped producing 914-6s in late 1971 if I recall. I thought 914-4s were completely assembled at Karmann.
