I second you on the sportmatic. As much money as youll spend fixing the car you might as well find one with a manual transmission and really enjoy it. Just my opinion.

Sportomatic parts are becoming increasingly hard to find. Unless you have a lot of spares to support it for the next few years, I wouldn't go for it unless it is to be a hangar queen only.

LOL! The Sporto would definitely require a good relationship with a technician, my shop was doing conversions in the late '80s and early '90s because with the Sporto you eventually reach a point when you're throwing good money after bad. It's a shame, because the cars were nice to drive in town.

Just think about that car with a mag case 915 (with 7:31 R&P) and a few details here and there corrected. Of course, by the end of that project you could buy a nice SC and a Boxster S, and have enough money left over to replace the Boxster engine if necessary.

Looking at the pictures, the car is definitely got enough going for it to look at it in person...

They want $85k for that '65 at F40. If I get serious about the 911L, it would be restored to a show piece and Sunday driver. I think the price could come down a little more. It was initially offered at $54,900. Now, $39,900. That '65 is probably worth it.

I had a 68L Sportomatic, biggest concern was the stader support which seperates oil from the torque converter and the clutch assembly. The clutch assembly is the same as in a manuel transmission but you have the benefit of a torque converter.

Also the the contact points on the stick shift could sometimes be a hassle, outside of that fun car to drive and reliable.

The color on this car is perfect. It is well known that Gemini Blue is the faster color.
