Default Who has The Most Miles on a 911 aircooled engine

So here is the question--
1. Who has the most miles on the engine since new.--or
2. The most miles including an overhaul.
3. Or, the most known miles seen on a customers car OR from a Reliable source.

An interesting side bar might be---- what broke or wore out causing a repair at hiigh miles (say over 100,000)

I do know that my 1971T had over 150K (two sets of chain tenstioners),when I sold it to my cousin who drove it another 20 years with only one rebuild on the top end. (for the first 15 years it was his only car), and he said that he also had a broken speedo cable over 5 year before having it fixed. (there may have also been a clutch cable or two). God only knows were it is now, lets hope that some kind sole used it to build a Track car.

Mark.

In The 911 Performance Handbook, Bruce Anderson refers to a 911sc with over 400,000 miles till the guy money shifted. Anyway I had to do head studs at 174,000 miles on my 1981 Targa. The 3.0 is suppose to be the most reliable motor Porsche has made. It is unfortunate about the head studs though. The 3.2 is suppose to be pretty close to the SC. There was a previous thread on here about mileage. You might want to check it out.

Plenty of guys on Pelican with 200+K....

My exhaust valves bent "for some reason" at about 130K, requiring a rebuild.

Which mag was it (Excellence?) that had the article of the 800K 911? That was fantastic.

My 67 912 is on its fifth time around the clock yes 500k + now the engine has been built 3 times and I re-ring it every 2 years or so. But the tranny has never been touched and it is BEAUTIFUL!! 901 rules.

My '76 had 180k+ on it when sh*tty 2.7 finally let go.

My neighbor in grad school had an '86 with 225k on the clock before he sold it to his mechanic. I am sure that car is still racking up the miles unless Katrina got her...

The shop I use has a customer with 395 on the clock and the owner of the shop has a touch over 400K. Both cars are SC's. If my facts are correct neither engine has been opened.

A friend had an '86 Cab with 300+k on it.
Would change the oil like every 25k, too...

Marc,
Isn't that coincident that every owner who has more miles on the car who changes oil very often.
BTW, 25k or 2.5k?

If you consider 25K 'very often' I would hate to see what you consider 'seldom'

For real, he would always go like 25,000 miles between oil changes.
