Default Engin Serial Number

I am looking for information on a
engine serial number.
911 5 201 654
I would like to know if this is a 2.7 or a 3.0 motor. We have been told
that it was a 3.2 that has been increased to a 3.4.
We are exploring the idea of making it a 3.6 motor but we feel that the
stress on the case will be to great.
Thnks for any response to this topic.
The best I have done is get a response that says it might be a
1973 E case. That would point it at a 2.7.

hmm interesting. I am looking at my little red book that has engine serial number ranges but all start with 6 something. maybe there is another source for this.
Where is that stamped if I may ask ?

I don't think that is your serial number ....

look at the back of the engine ..okay facing the back of the car lets say . now look down at the lower right side of the fan housing right next to the pressure sender. it is stamped on the fan housing area.
you will have to look sideways. there will be a number starting with 6 .

You have a picture of the BODY number taken inside the front trunk. That SN is of a 1975 USA coupe.

Well PAul you have me stumped bcecause that is the right location. But that looks like the body s/n not the engine. I wonder if it has been doctored somehow.

You may want to try Pelican , there are some very knowledgable older Porsche guys that might know what is going on.
