RacerBVD,

Are the pictured items for sale the same as the ones in the 'installed' photo? Aside from the color, they look very different to me. Is it just the photos?

That isn't mine, from a friend's shop who sells tie down, not the same ones as my other friend had made.

No, not the same. The car mine are on is in storage and too low to get a good picture.

Those don't look very strong. The loops for the tie down are very thin and are probably just mild steel so I would not trust them. Look how much thicker the powder coated ones are.

They look like they would rip in half the first time you used them. The ones on my car are much more substantial.

Not being able to tell from the photo as to how thick the steel is, I'd have to agree. I bought mine from Weltmeister ... a little more $$ .... and have no regrets. Have towed many times with the Weltmeister front/rear tie-downs with only the happiest results.

No offense, but I'm staying away away from those in your photo.

I've used the set on my track car (but it is lightened) for the last 8 years with no problems. I'm not saying that they aren't as strong as the later developed Welts, just that I haven't had a problem.
