Somewhere between '84 and '87 Porsche figured out value-based pricing based on the 24% jump in pricing.

If I remember right, my 1976 Targa with leather, factory a/c, factory oil cooler and 15" fuschs, had a sticker of $16,800.

Thanks to SC-Targa for posting the price sheet for the 87, I can finally piece together what my car was new since I don't have the window sticker. My 87 M491 optioned cab was a whopping $66,327 MSRP.
