Default Black Attachment In Front Of Rear Wheels

Some pictures of 1988s show a black attachment to body in front of rear wheels and some don't. Was this an option from the factory?

Are you referring to the wide body rear fender grilles? If so, that is what came on the wide body turbo look vehicles, not just 1988 models.

IIRC, it came standard on all wide body cars and was an option for the narrow body cars.

I was thinking the same thing.

Does this car have the 'black attachment' you are referring to?

Would you put the shark fin on a non wide body 83SC? Was that an option on that model?

That item is vinyl and is a rock protector for the rear fender. Yes you can put them on a regular 911, but a Turbo one is larger.

I'd get the factory part kit (right and left) and get a pro to at least show you how to mark them for proper placement.
Refer to a variety of sources for this location, as I have seen at least 2 different locations that people claim to be factory.
There may well even be 2 different positions, but I'll bet they are for SWB applications or something because I find it hard to believe that the factory would have just tossed on some stickers w/o a proper placement.
