Default The 928 guys are not going to like this

IM thinking about selling the 928 and picking up a 911. In an 83-86 MY will my 6'2" 245# *** fit in one? I had a 73 for a few months. Never did drive it But I do remember the time I did drive it, it was like my feet were way to big for the little pedal area?

Thanks
Kyle

Why would we not like it? I've been wanting an early 911 for a life time.

Good luck man.

Your height and weight shouldn't be a problem, but the pedals are very tight. I'm 6'4 and 13 shoe, I HAVE to wear driving shoes and use a hub extension to drive my 911.

Shark,

I am 6'-1" and 340....(probably the reason my seat stitching is coming apart)....with size 14 shoes. I can't wear shoes with thick stiff soles, but otherwise, I have never had a problem fitting into the car, or being comfortable on long rides. I have never driven a coupe, but I have heard guys say that Targas do provide a little more head room. I just can't speak from experience here.

Even with my absurd weight and excessive shoe size, I have never felt too large for my car. It actually feels just right for me. Perhaps it's just the chemical release that is happening in my brain when I get behind the wheel. These cars have that effect!

Good luck once again with the search!

No problemo. Get ready for some fun. Not that the 928's aren't, they're just different. Certainly easier to work on, but they rarely need it.

Oh, and you'll find out the 911 crowd is so much better that the 928 group. Ooops, forgot Sean was on this thread. Scratch the last statement.

Hi Kyle - my husband is 6'4" about 275 and he seems quite comfy behind the wheel. He has mentioned the room for feet in the pedal area - and I have to tell you, I'm a foot shorter and a good bit smaller, and I have to wear close-fitting shoes, no extension off the end of my toes at all, or I get all tangled up down there myself. I have to pull the seat up almost as far as it will go and I've had quite a time getting a good set-up with the seat adjustments, distance from the wheel, knee clearance, etc. - but I have finally settled into just the right settings. I finally have hubby "trained" to just use the slide back & forth and not to touch any of the other seat adjustment buttons!

ok, when I first drove my 911, I always complained about the clutch pedal area. I finally found the way to deal with it. That is driving without shoes. My shoes sizes are 10.5 and 11, and I enjoy it. I have no idea how can someone drive it with bigger than 11 size shoes.

I',m 6'0",245 with size 12 shoes. Feet fit in both my 84 and the 91, but I avoid the clunkier shoes, as they catch the pedals a bit. As far as height, should be no problem. Good luck.

I also have size 12 and the early Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers are a perfect fit for confined foot pedals. Close to racing shoes.

With size 8s, I initially had a bit of a problem, but just took a little getting used to.

6'1 / 205 here. I have a small momo wheel, manual seats.

I have plenty of legroom, wish there was an in-between position for where I push the seat back for driving shoes vs. workboots (size 9.5-10 here).

Only complaint I have is left foot dead pedal area (there is none).

I have a Cab, and have enough height with the manual seats to be able to get the broomstick across the windshield to roll bar w/ helmet on.

Talking Coupes v. Targas for footwell room

If you have big feet, you may want to avoid Targas. They are quite a bit narrower in the footwell. I'm 6'4" and the seating is very comfortable in my '82 SC Coupe. I think it'd be tight with a helmet however, if you want to track the car.

Yes, but there may not be much room for the rest of your body.
