Default 82 sc Ferry Special

Does anyone have an 82 sc Ferry Special? I have been looking at one with sig on the headrests, has the rear wiper and the colour is grey metallic correct for that year/model. If someone can shoot me a pic of the headrests it may help. I am sure the VIN number is also in the range.

This car celebrated Porsche's 50th anniversary, was painted a color called Meteor Metallic, and should have red and silver striped fabric on the seat centers and door panels, and the steering wheel should be burgundy. The "F. Porsche" signature on the headrests is correct, as is the rear window wiper. The car was originally fitted with 15" Fuchs alloys, 7" front and 8" rear. I'm puzzled by the funky radio antenna, the original was a motorized unit - perhaps it died. Approximately 200 were built, I hope it's a good find for you! Remember to have a PPI with cylinder head stud inspection done!

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the information. I saw it briefly on Saturday and apart from the funky antennae seems original. I have a PPI arranged for Thursday at the local Porsche dealer. They shop selling it said they had an inspection done with leakdown and compression test but he had no report. It has 140,000 miles on the clock and some history, selling for +/- $18,000 negotiable which is reasonable I think. Hope the PPI is sound.

That sounds like a lot of money for an SC targa with 140K on the clock.

How difficult is it to locate an SC in South Africa?

John,
Quite difficult the market here is not that big. There was an 83 Carrera recently sold for $37,000 and that had 120,000 miles on it.

Wow

How much of an import fee or tariff fees does your country charge to bring in a vehicle from overseas?

Thumbs down Import

Aha theres the rub. Vehicles imported are subject to a sliding scale of taxation and customs duties, on the amount I am willing to spend this would mean a 73% premium on top of the purchase price in the States or Europe. Believe me I have been down this avenue and it works out more expensive. Hoping the PPI shows no mechanical issues, body and chassis wise the car is solid no rust issues or accident damage, straight panels and nice gaps.
