I saw a woman driving a Guards red 3.2 Targa today near the Speen Street entrance to the Natick Mall in Natick, MA. I was in a Guards red 993 Cabriolet. You flashed your lights at me and waved, and I flashed my lights and waved back.

No I did not. How come there isn't any "sightings" topic on Rennlist? I am a VW fanatic, and belong to several VW forums, and we always post when we see a fellow VW fan and wave or flash our high beams at them. And there are a LOT more VWs than Porsches, so you'd think that there would be more of an interest in posting Porsche sightings, since they are a bit rarer. Obviously, we don't post EVERY TIME we see another VW, but you can tell when another VW is owned by a VW fan by certain clues such as the model (i.e. if it's a rare model), a custom license plate, or by the way it has been modified. For example, I wouldn't flash my lights at an everyday Jetta with steel wheels (although the driver could be a VW fan), but if I saw a limited edition Golf R32 (3.2L V6, all-wheel drive) with BBS wheels and a license plate that says, "VDUB" I'd be more inclined to try to get that person's attention. Likewise, I'd be more likely to wave to someone in a G50 or 993 than someone in a 996 because there are SO MANY 996's and 997's in Boston that you can probably assume that more of those drivers are not really Porsche fans than those driving the older cars. I know, that's not always a fair assumption though. Just a thought. I'm a new Porsche owner, and haven't even been one for a full week, so maybe I'm being over-enthusiastic. BUT, she flashed her high beams at me first, which I thought was really cool! Oh, and I did wave at a 996 Cabriolet and nod at a Boxster, and got nothing.

Oh cool. Toronto is my second home. My mother's family is from there (well originally from Hong Kong), and I've been to Toronto approximately 80 times. I've spent nearly all of my Christmases there. So speaking of Toronto, I saw a Guards red 993 Turbo heading north on Avenue Road at Bloor right outside of Hazelton Lanes on the weekend of July 4th.

Glad you were able to bump into another p-car owner. I wave all the time, except to Cayennes (admission here). I find most Boxster owners also don't return waves either.

Nevermind, it was a joke. Usually it's the kiddies who care enough to post "sightings" threads in the technical forums. FYI, there is a New England Regional section here - maybe she checks that out?

As for the 'opposite direction', that's 2 of the scenes I linked to in the youtube video... American driving on the wrong side of the road in the UK...
