Default fs: Porsche 78 911 SC non sunroof coupe PCA G class race car

78 euro 911 SC non sunroof coupe. The car is set up for PCA club racing (old G class) with log book dating back to 2005. I just don’t have the time to Club race anymore and many of the local tracks have closed so it is time to sell. This car is quite competitive. I have included results from the last two races I competed in as you can see I Qualified 2nd In G class cars (Finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd depending on the race).

The car currently is set up with headers and a dual outlet exhaust. I drove it on the street until 2006 as well as the track. Since then it has only been a track only car and was used 2-3 weekends a year. The car currently has 117K miles.

The car is very well set up for PCA club racing or DE’s. Being a euro car with no sunroof it is quite light for a SC. I needed ½ tank of gas, spare tire and 70Lbs of weight to meet the minimum weight of 2552lbs (without driver).

starting bid is 15,000

thanks

I may be wrong since I am not an SC expert but I'm pretty sure a CLEAN SC in great shape would sell for 15-16K. You want someone to pay 15-18.5K for one that has a salvaged title, awful paint, and is stripped for DE? Not trying to be a jerk but I dont think you'll find a buyer here, not with the tons of knowledge this board has. I dunno maybe its got upgrades that make it worth it, let us know.

$15K is cheap for a race car. I didn't see in the ad where it says it's a salvage car? Anyway...

$15k for a RACE car is a good deal. Salvage title (says it in the description) at this point doesn't matter as long as it is straight, fast and safe.

Good luck in the sale.

Oh I didnt realized having mods made such a big difference, or is RACE car a totally different thing altogether?

Young Jedi, go to Pelican's racing forum, or this one too, and search a bit to see what such a car would cost to build.

It just costs a lot of money and takes a lot of time to build a race car. My friend has spent easily $18-20k on his road race car, a Firebird (NASA). Decent CMC cars sell for $12-15k. Any mods on a race car are to either 1) go faster or 2) make the car more reliable. There is just so much work that goes into it, $500-$1000 oil coolers with AN fittings, full cage, race seats, fuel cell, etc. It is like everything costs $1000...I know in my friend's non p-car race car the cheapest thing he did was buy the actual Firebird.

That lightweight car with a true 180 HP motor makes it desirable. My SC without the spare tire, driver, A/C, 1/8 tank of gas, but WITH US body and sunroof weighs just about 2590. He says this one can be made as low as 2400...wow.

Still. No bids!

The owner of the shop that I use (Mike Bavaro, Bodymotion) built a car to campaign in the Koni Challenge. He started with a brand new 997. When he was selling it he told me he took a brand new car and made a used car out of it.

No bids probably a sign of the times and perhaps time of year. Maybe this fall/winter when someone may be itching to get into racing next year.

While not desirable to the mostly garage queen crowd here, as a race/DE car it could be just what someone's looking for. Problem is it only caters to a very small percentage of buyers out there. The build cost for a competitive car in this class could easily exceed $40K.

To the OP, good luck with the sale. If you haven't already I would post it for sale on the Racing Forums and in the classifieds here and at Pelican as well as the PCA Club Racing News.

I was just checking the tread on the car I have for sale. I did not catch that the listing had gone out with the title listed as salvage. That is not the case, the title is clear and has been corrected.
Thanks for the catch.
