Default Out of Here!

Hola, my 911 brethren freaks,

tonight is my last night in Yemen for at least five weeks. I fly into Dubai tomorrow where I meet up with the devastatingly lovely Nicole.

We have two nights in Dubai and then fly into Glasgow and promptly get chauffeured across the country to pick up 'Herbie', my honourable 911 SC.

You may have all noticed me jumping in of late to these forums; for that I apologise. I've had little else but my employment to keep me busy, and although I've been a voyeur for quite some time, once I committed in writing initially, it seems to have all gushed forth!

So I choose to share!

"Herbie" has been in the shop of late. I put him in initially as the drivers side window had ceased to operate. I already had spare motors lined up as they were becoming increasingly slower in operation. I purchased the new runners (as they had turned to dust)(read 'window channels') and my mechanic fitted them, along with said motors.

I had my mechanic (let's call him 'Mike' for the sake of a real 80's theme) track down some excessive hot air issues that I've been having and also get the car ready for it's yearly MOT.

The hot air issue was due to an auto heat potentiometer problem which refused to test to correct ohm's (apparently the Bentley was consulted; and once again proved invaluable) and has been ordered accordingly (at no inconsiderable expense). It has, of yet, to prove itself as being of actual fault, as it is yet to arrive from the supplier.

There is actually AK47 gunfire in the background as I write this and although I find this as unlikely as you do, I assure you it's not that uncommon here in the capital of Sana'a

Where were we?

Whilst in for the work it seemed wise that new tires should also be fitted. I chose Toyo's to replace the current Pirrelli's (205 x 55 16 F & 245 x 45 16 R). I've only seen them on the web site from which they were purchased but they do look smart and particularly worthy. They come with four star reviews.

I also couldn't resist a WEVO shifter and PSJ. These, like the auto heat switch, are yet to arrive.

I plan to fit these items myself if they don't arrive in time for 'Mike' to get it done.

Seeing as I was on a roll, I couldn't resist the group buy that came up from Das Schieldhund (excuse spelling, my German has never been excellent and I will no doubt make it up with an excellent review of said product, here on Rennlist, if anyone at all cares to listen after this drivel) and also purchased an under bonnet protector. This has also yet to arrive, I understand.

(As you guys (those that haven't quit reading in boredom yet) may be coming to realise..........it's going to be like Christmas...........or at least the Jewish equivalent..........when I get home).

Myself and the lovely Nicole have an 11 day touring holiday planned in Ireland over this next period of weeks. Of course................it's really a holiday for 'Herbie' as he's the one that's been locked up with 'Mike' for about two and a half months now (and we all know how **** those Porsche guys can be! : )

I assure you I will post pics asap and also let you know how I get on with the WEVO / PSJ / Auto Heat Switch installation if I have to do it myself.

If I don't, I will just post pics of how 'Mike' got on with it!

Keep it Real

Doug, I appreciate you PM'ing me and not stripping me down in front of the rest of the guys here.

I'm ashamed and I apologise for my vague attempts at humour.

It is now the next day and I am hours from my flight.

I will update everyone about 'Herbie and the Wevo,' (in fact I might write a scary childrens story)whether they like it or not, when I get to Scotland (providing they've got the power on by now ; )

I choose to share!
