Default Rear reflector guru help needed

I wish to purchase a rear reflector replacement from Thom at http://rennlight.com/reflector/ He tells me he has modeled his from pre 86 cars and thinks it would fit post 86 but is not sure. Can someone confirm this for us. I am not home at present so can't remove mine to see if there are holes to attach.
The first 2 images show how my reflector attaches. and the last one shows Thom's replacement attachment points. Metric (M6) female fasteners are embedded in the panel.

It's my understanding that with the MY87 the metal part of the body changed in that area, to accommodate rear fog lights, integrated into the reflector. Did he design this reflector for the pre 87 cars or for that later cars? The reflector is significantly thinner for the earlier cars (MY74-85-6) because behind the reflector is just a series of holes into which the reflector is pressed on. By late 86 that entire area changed. I think they're two entirely different fits and not compatible. The later 911s have much of that are hollowed out, and with accommodations for two rectangular rear fogs.

Thanks Dan,
Looks like I may have to wait a couple of more weeks until I get home and remove my reflector and see what is there. I'll post results.
Dave.

Dave,

I can make you one up out of CF and Fibreglass. Might be a good reason to come for a drive up to the North East

No worries Dave.
I have two old reflectors here to pull a mold off. We'll look at how your's is mounted and make the new CF one have the same mountings.
That way we keep all the Polyester and Epoxy a long way from your car!!

I'll PM you with my number.

be sure and post a photo of the metal work on the car where you remove the reflector. As I recall there will be about 10 holes which accommodate the fittings on the back of the reflector. Sort of press on,--not designed to easily be removed.

While the reflector gurus are online...

I have a 76 Carrera 3.0 that was upgraded to the 964 look. The rear reflector is a 964 one. It's mounted on a piece of metal that is obviously not stock.

I'll get back to the original reflector, so my question is, what does the reflector attach to ? My guess would be a metal crossmember. Is it welded to the body (that means they cut mine to install the 964 body kit) ?

The only crossmember I have in this area is the one with the trunk latch.

Does anybody have pictures of this area without the reflector ?
Maybe I should post a picture as well... I'll see if I can get one.

Thanks,

-Guillaume

Yes, there is a welded in panel with holes in it that the reflector bolts to. The panel only has a top and a rear (with the holes). The bottom is open so that you can get to the reflector bolts.

After the refector is bolted in another flat panel (with some ribs pressed into it for strength) "slots" and is bolted to it, to form the bottom.

Then you are missing the reflector panel.

This is the panel that your car was born with. It is a different panel that a C2 reflector bolts to.

Hope this helps.
