Did you check the "smuggler's box"? It's located in the trunk under the carpets on the passenger side between the gas tank and the firewall. That's where I found mine. Hope that helps.

Most of us keep some of the A/C in the smuggler's box. So, again....Where is the pump?

After a year I found my tool kit in front of the spare tire. Who knew?

My 81SC came without one. Bought one on-line from somewhere.

I looked in my "smugglers" box and nada

I don't think the pump would fit in there with the case and all, maybe 2.5 inches of head room with lid closed.

Any other magic areas?

The PO of my car said he never saw it and gave me a pump made in China, go figure.

I'll be looking on-line for a nice one.

Can't say that they still have them, but Pep Boys (believe it or not!) used to carry a really nice one for about $55.

If you're not seeing it, it ain't there. The OEM unit is in a large black plastic case that you couldn't miss.

That being said, I'm storing my OEM unit and carry a small, powerful pump designed for motorcycle use. Takes a lot less space, doesn't bang around in the trunk, and is a better pump. Check a motorcycle dealer, especially one that carries better quality stuff, like a BMW dealer.

When I was looking for my car I must have looked at 20 cars that had the pump just floating around in the trunk. They would have bounced around all the time doing damage to everything. Either it was out of it's normal storage area and on display, or that is just where it goes....Loose in the trunk? Free to bang around?
