Wow. I'm with you Iceman. Looks like a sad attempt at a major cover up.

Good catch DShepp.

Can't believe the description vs. the pics. 180* apart.

I'll be honest,..I didn't even think about flood damage possibilities. And to have seen all of that telltale rust areas (EVEN the bolts on the engine bottom),...good eye, guys.

All of that "new carpeting" was nothing more than the standard THIN, CHEAP crap,..even cheaper under the bonnet..

At the left of the ignition, ...what is that console mounted red light? Is this the alarm on a '88? And the next year, Porsche moved it to the door locks?

Best,

Doyle

It really is amazing how the pictures he selected can so artfully exclude the major issues with that car.

Man, what a neglected heap !!!

That rusty door latch striker makes me think it was in a flood or near a beach.

I will never frown on my car again. My car is a perfect. Holy crap Doyle, thinking of my car in each of the pictures it looks nothing like that car. I can't find a comparable spot anywhere. I do have a fiew little rust spots on some things, but no cracks, holes, pits, or parts that just don't fit. Who can't get an oil filter right or clean up after a A/C comp. goes bad. That photo line up should be a sticky at the top of the page for a while. Thank you.

EDIT: John you have to be right....It must have lived a block off the beach.

I don't think it is a flood car, but the engine corrosion, etc., makes it look like a car that spent a lot of time up North.

Thank you for posting the pictures Doyle. I had read this thread, and the eBay listing yesterday and was wondering what was actually wrong with it. Now I see. Based on the cosmetic issues alone, I too would have passed.

What most of us probably find frustrating is how deceptive this ad is. I suspect the majority of us, if we had this car and wanted to sell it on eBay, would have posted a complete description of all the issues with photos and accepted a MUCH lower price from someone who wanted this car as a project or doner vehicle.

The problem with these guys, is they will just hide behind feigned ignorance if called on it. "Hey I thought the car was excellent! What car this old doesn't have at least a little rust? You're just too picky...."

Bottom line: The car is not being honestly represented by the seller IMO.

Bottom-Bottom line: Wise move having it checked out UserA.

Bottom-Bottom-Bottom line: EXCELLENT job Doyle. That is the kind of thing that really makes this list.

Bottom-Bottom-Bottom-Bottom line: I will never buy a remote car without having one of you guys/gals take a look (prior to going to the PPI and fly in stages).
