Default Torque steer issue.

I just got my car back from a local Porsche dealer.
They did several things including new front tires, an alignment and ride height adjustment.
I still find the car tends to torque steer left under acceleration, and veers back to the right when I back off.
Before the service I assumed it was alignment related.
I'm now wondering if this is a normal behavior.

Anyone have a comment on this?

Thanks

I thought torque steer was only a FWD thing. What 'local porsche dealer' did you get it serviced at Ian?

I had it at Mark Motors in Ottawa.
Had many things done for it to pass safety so I could get the baby registered.
She's finally back home :-)

I would suggest you try some of the independents in Ottawa. Apparently there is supposedly a really good independent in Kingston. Clive (aka Iceman) told me his name but I have forgotten it.

A 911 doesn't have torque steer. On the other hand the symptom you describe can be caused by uneven rear tire diameters, uneven tire pressure in back or, an improper alignment - the thrust angle is not zero as it should be. In short the front and rear wheels are not pointed in exactly the same direction.

Thanks guys.
I will give him a call and see what he can do to help.
Yes, I agree, torque steer is not the correct term. Duly noted.

It feels like the passenger rear is planting deeper than the drivers rear.
The drivers front comes up a bit higher than the right side, and she drifts left.

The guy at Mark told me the car had never been aligned.
Undercoat had never been disturbed.
20 years with no alignment, insane, amazing, WTF?

cheers

Thanks again

check your tire pressures first.

Measure the rear tire diameters mounted at correct pressure. If there is a deviation of ~.25 inches or more, it can cause torque steer. These cars are very sensitive to this. I have had this happen with brand new Hoosier race tires several times. You can also swap sides and you should see the opposite thrust under acceleration (if it is tires).

Tire pressure was the first thing I checked.
I will measure the size this evening.

On another note, I got an E test done today and got my plates.
I'm now completely legal. :-)

Thanks
