Default 1973 Carrera RS

Hi folks,

A very nice and interesting classic. I photographed it five months ago. Take a look:

I'll never get tired at looking at the Carrera RS. What's the history of this car? Sorry, I don't speak Portugese. Nice pics, and thanks for sharing.

Very, very nice. One question: real deal or clone? The front lighting has me a little confused.

No problem.
I`m still learning english too
This is an unrestored car with tool box and owners manual.

BlackPearl: yes, it is an original model.
We have only 7 Carrera RS in Brazil.

Agreed, very nice to see such an original RS. This is chassis # 9113601575, a very late production RS.

The RS cars that were imported into Brazil are very interesting. There were 15 RS cars imported into Brazil originally. They were all Tourist delivery and were all very highly optioned. Oddly enough they all had black headliners too, which was standard for the Lightweight or Sport model M471, but not the Touring model M472. All cars had at least 11 or more options listed. This is the only Black RS imported to your country. Oh, and many of the imports had no rear spoiler.

Maybe you can help me out by finding out the story behind these unique circumstances by asking the owner of this RS if he knows why they all were ordered as a Tourist delivery and with so many options.

This car was ordered with:

102- 2 stage heated rear window

220- Limited slip diff.

258- Head restraints right and left

419- Retractable seat belts right and left

432- Above bumper additional long range driving lights

459- Round iodine lights below bumper

461- Power antenna

468- Becker Mexico radio

482- Engine compartment light

650- Sunroof

651- Power windows

Hi Brian,

Excellent
Yes, this is the only black RS in Brazil.
I will talk with the owner about these items.

Fantastic looking car. Love it, the Becker Mexico radio is still in the car. Thanks for sharing the additional photos.

There is a 73 Carrera RS Touring going on the block today at Mecum. They are projecting it will bring up to $600k.

Hope the bidders spend time looking this car over instead of hitting the bar before they start bidding.

Non-original engine case inspite of what the auction listing suggests and many more 'issues'.
