Looks like he should have got back in, and drove off after they uprighted him.

That's it. The *** end started out, he over compensated with the wheel rather than the gas pedal & swung the other way & that was it.
Poor guy. That will cost him.

He was on the brakes coming into that corner, thus producing the rear-end lift everyone always talks about. Not too much you can do when you're too hot into a corner like that I guess, unless you practice that maneuver. When you start to feel the rear end get loose, you have to ease up on the brakes or else the rear will come around.

Just in case this ever starts to happen to me, what's the technique? Get off the brakes, even if it means staying too fast in the corner?
Do you accelerate through? Or, ease off the gas? Not that I'm planning on driving my car near the limits, but, just in case I ever feel something behind me itching to get in front of me....

Is this an example of the "911 bite"?

I am no expert and you never know how you are going to react for sure. But I think he could have saved it at the end with some gas pedal feathering and proper steering inputs....looks like he way over corrected.
Yeah that other video with "Sideways Stephan" in the Yellow Bird is always a blast to watch. No helmet/gloves, and just loafers...lol crazy!

Looks like he started to get the back end out, lifted - which got the back end further out - then tried to over correct which brought him around the other way. Either way - bad day.

Sad day for that fellow. This is why we should all do some Autocrosses and DE to know what it feels like and what to do when this happens. You do not have time to think, only react.

In general, on the track, if you encounter too much understeer and you're heading for the trees, you can ease up on the gas, which causes more weight transfer to the front tires to produce more traction for turning. That should bring the car in line a bit more.
If you encounter oversteer on the track due to braking in a turn, then you can ease up on the brakes to cause more weight transfer to the rear tires to bring the rear end in line.
