So final exams rolled around and my whole carpet restoration was at a halt for a few weeks. Finals are over and I started the job again today. I got a lot done but had to stop because I ran out of tack glue. I'll try to finish by Friday and post the final result. I must say it is looking pretty darn nice so far. Not perfect, but better than I expected. Enjoy!

Oshin, was the carpet originally black or green? I don't remember. I think this is in my future too. I hope they make the kit in blue. I'm sure it's like getting the oil off the motor. Ya gotta then do the trans and the suspention. So too will go the doing of the carpet. Next it will be doors and the shift ****. picture quality is poor, but I see most of it. It looks good.

ALL DONE! All I have left actually is the door panels. I am glad I bought the domestic carpet, it looks great. Also I made just an error or two and I have learned lots in the process, the next time around (hopefully never) will be much better. It was a long arduous process, it really took its toll on me lol. I will post pictures soon, thanks for all the help!

The final product...only a minor slip up....but boy the next time around I will be so much more experienced...I know a few tricks of the trade now haha. Some of the photos make it look like there are blemishes but its just the camera lens that has dust on it. Enjoy! Its a world of difference from the 20 year old beat up carpet that was in there. It was torn and ravaged in a few places but now its very nice IMO.

You are having way too much fun in school. Do the floor mats differ that much in person? Heck, are they part of the kit? I don't remember. It all looks great. How many hours do you think you spent? Do you get new door pockets or do you cover the old? Now you are the expert, so we have questions.

Hehe I spent about one week of the summer doing this, thats just the installation, removal was another day or two. So total probably about 40 hours+. It is not a simple task. There are tricks to know and it takes a lot of time and patience. The floors mats dont differ as much in person, but now i regret getting genuine porsche and not the floyd mats or whatever they are called. Maybe i'll buy floyd mats later. The new door pockets came with the kit, i tore the old ones off and put the place ones on. It wasnt easy haha some of that carpet is on there pretty solid. The number one trick is knowing HOW to spray the tack adhesive correctly. More to come later I am a bit tired...keep asking questions
Here is some of the old carpeting when I first bought the car, it looks a TON nicer in picture than it did in person. It was so old and ratty that no matter how many times you steam clean it it would still look dirty. It was just at the end of its life.

Oshin,
That looks absolutely fantastic. I like the darker carpets - it really looks outstanding. Wow...... I'd be curious to hear more about what "tricks" of the trade you learned while putting them in - I'm thinking of redoing my carpets as well......... although I'm scared of that slippery slope (carpets lead to leather parts, which lead to a new dash, which leads to ......) I think you get the picture. Keep us posted and thanks for all the great pics.
