Default Help..I lost a spark plug in the engine!

Trying to take the spark plug off the right side of the engine the furtherst away...a plug slipped and fell between a gap just an the entrance of the covers. I cant find it. What is in between that gap and where does it go?

Did you look underneath the car? I am not understanding 'gap at entrance of covers', could you be more specific or better yet post a pic? Chances are you plug didn't go anywhere bad, plugs are big and there aren't big holes to the inside of your engine.

What year is it?

I believe there's a space off to the side by the plug hole but it isn't any deeper so you should be able to easily grab it with a magnet. I found that a craftsman magnet on a stick was great for retrieving things during my recent service :-)

Dont worry its not "inside" your engine. Behind the area where the plug screws in is another little hold, but it doesnt go anywhere....get a mechanics mirror from your local auto store and with it a magnet on a snake. You should be able to fish it out easily.

Thanks, BTW its an 83SC. I will do what oshin11 suggested. Oldmanneri, if you run your finger at the entrance of the spark plug area you will feel that there is a thin metal and a gap just under it on the #6.
Thats where the critter went. This happened using my own tools which made work very difficult, only to find out that my original Porsche tool kit had a fancy spark plug socket that wiggles around corners and with a handle that you can remove it once you have tightened the plug. It made the job 100% easier.....live and learn.
abe...thanks to all

So....between the oil cooler and the head?

I purchased 5 or 6 new spark plug wrenches trying to change out #1 and #6. I didn't even know I had a factory tool kit 'till a month later. Go figure!

Try taping a magnet to rod or cable. Works every time. Good luck.
