I'd think 5th is fine for a brisk cruise; I don't think about it til I'm at 75 or so. But if I'm looking at grades or traffic, down to 4th.

So far...................

23 mpg in the 911.
35 mpg in the honda. Not bad for something that is over 10 years old and I have rolled off the highway at 75mph.

You wanna talk Honda mpg? My Honda is 12 years old. On Easter Sunday, I put 38 pounds of air in the tires, drove it to L.A., and got 40.5 mpg! On the last tank, it did 35. I love that car.

Ed I'm gonna book mark this post for all the yahoos that give me crap for my 15 gallons of 91 and 5 gallons of 100.

Actually Doug, I'm gonna ratchet it down to a 1:3 ratio mix like you're doing. That gives an octane of just over 93, which is fine. I think the girl runs a little better on the 50/50 95+ mix I've run the last couple of tanks, but I'm getting ready to spend some $$$ on the new wheels and the next level of suspension mods , so I need to be a team player with the family's money.

Pete, Trader Joe's is the best! Even with the recent price increases, their prices are very reasonable for how healthy and not packed with preservatives the food is. The employees are nice and the atmosphere is great, plus there are always cute girls shopping there so it's a winner in my book! When I first moved to Santa Barbara 6-7 years ago to go to UCSB I applied for a job there: they make you take a math test as part of the application process! They are always swamped with applications.

Also, Hester, I enjoyed the story of your beautiful 911 in the latest Excellence magazine. What a find!

Ed, if you need a place to dump your old stuff that you are taking off I could always haul it away for you. May even help you unbolt it so I know where it goes on my car. I've got lots of 13mm sockets...

Probably the only items that won't be reused are my front monoballs.

I'm going to front camber plates, raised spindles, cambered ball joints, drop link bump steer goodies, re-valved bilsteins, corner balance and pro alignment.

This, coupled with the new Forged 3 piece Fuch replicas and a set of Advan A048 R's, and she should be even more fun to drive.

NOw the lawn mower is too costly to run.--------
So I filled up the pick up truck and made a note that it would drive a bunch less than in the past.
Then I pulled a couple of gas jugs from the back to fill up for the lawn mower and the quad. $39.

We did buy a baby billy goat last week and can get him as soon as he is off of his momma. I can save gas and put Billy to work in a week or so. Now, if he is willing, I can construct a little cart to have him tow me back and forth to the store. Maybe a bicycle with a side car with the goat in front. Econo-dual power.

I think that we're doing our part by consolidating drives. If I have recyclables that need to go out, but I don't need to go to the Post Office, or the grocery store, etc., that waste stays in the garage until I need to go somewhere else. We also don't go to the grocery for only one or two items, a little thinking ahead makes for a worthwhile list. There were three days last week that I didn't run errands, which was unheard of two years ago. Our goal is to keep fuel consumption, at today's prices, level with last year's costs. So far, so good.

Chevron Premium here is $4.79/gallon...

And that is perfectly OK as far as I'm concerned! As I posted earlier, my daily driver is an '06 F 150, and it is rarely used with just me and an empty bed. I haul the kids, assorted junk, project items, etc., and I really like it. It's way too hot here in the summer to drive the SC, but my wife used it twice last week - at 25+ mpg. Just for that convenience we canceled our Leland West policy and added the SC to our Traveler's Insurance coverage. It actually surprised me, the difference wasn't that great!
