Default I have joined the fraternity...

I thought that I would post this in the 911 forum since early on I was set on picking up a 1984-1989 coupe. I has searched dilligently, but had come up with a lot of poor examples. After a lot of guidance in this forum I was told to seek out the 964. Having driven a few, I really enjoyed it, a little bit more than the 3.2. My search for a nice 964 led to this vehicle shown here. I am sorry the pictures are so crappy. I just detailed the car and wanted to leave it in the garage. I will take some more when I bring out sometime soon.
The car was purchased from a fellow Rennlist member just outside of Boston. It is a 1991 911 (964) it was purchased with 91k. The car came with Fiscke wheels, a custom stereo with subwoofer and remotes. Very nice system, best I have heard in a car. All the manuals, service records, inspection reports, car covers, car fax. The car is a really well documented speciman. It is Oak Metallic Green. Kind of like a hunter or forest green. Has a tan leather interior.
I flew out from Chicago and drove the car home. It was a whirl wind trip, trying to make it back to work on Monday, leaving Saturday night, but I sleep for an hour and drove the rest of the way. The car ran like a champ. The best touring car I have ever been in. So far I have only driven the car a few times since it has been home, but man is it incredible. That engine sounds fantastic, I don't think you could ever get tired listening to that. As of this point the car really doesn't need anything, but to be driven. It feels nice to have a Porsche waiting in the garage for you. I have waited for this for a long time. Thanks again to all the members on 911 forum for listening to me and pointing me in the right direction. I share these crappy photos with you!

Congratulations. Oak green is an uncommon color.

Welcome, lovely car! My first was a 964 and I loved it. Now you can work your way up to something with impact bumpers

I love the 964! Tremendous cars, and much maligned, sorry to say. But because of this, they offer the best bang-for-buck 911, IMHO. Yours is a rare --and beautiful-- color and nice interior combo. Enjoy that beauty!

Thank you all for all the kind comments, I will post some additonal pictures this next weekend. Weather has been kind of touchy lately. I love the green color, its very rare, but really nice to look at. I have personally always wanted a tan interior. Eventually, I might work up to crash bumpers. The 964 is a great valve right now, but almost anything is these days with the Porsche market being soft.

Ahh you bought it from a fellow Rennlister. When he posted pics of this car I loved the color/wheel combo on this 964, great looking car with a not so every day color.

I am surprised it wasn't snapped up. The car sat for a while before I came across it. Your right with those wheels it looks solid.

A very nice example. You made an excellent choice!!

964's are 'much-maligned' by people who don't like more torque, better suspension, better A/C, etc., etc... They're a great value, IMO.

You picked up an excellent 964 example from a fellow RL member in a unique color combo. I remember the ad and details quite well. Forget what others say about the 964 as Bearclaw stated it best:

I couldn't agree more, the 964 is a great value. Its a great feeling to finally have your own 911. Every time I start that thing up I grin from ear to ear. Such a beautiful sounding engine. Again, thank you all for the kind words.

As a 964 owner and a 3.2 Carrera owner, I too agree that the 964 has a poor rep that really isn't all that deserved. Yes, the early 964 motors can leak, but it's a relatively rare thing that the leak can be catastrophic. Otherwise, they are solid cars and drive exceptionally well.

I also remember the add for this Oak Green (one of my favorite colors!) 964. Congrats!

Congrats on the car. I'm a new 3.2 owner and really enjoy it. You're car has a very classic look to it. I traditionally don't like after market wheels but with the color combo, I'd agree that your car is a true beauty!
