Are these things just welded poorly or what? 3 out of every 4 jack stands I have ever bought are a bit wobbly, some more than others. Will it just even out over the months or do people just send them back?

You didn't provide much info about what they are. Where did you buy them, Harbor Freight? Please send a couple of photos. I have numerous Sear 2-ton stands I bought 20 years ago and they are fine.

LOL, everything that's 20+ years old is better - none of it was made in China!

Greetings;
I'm a 86.5 928 owner, new to the 911 forum who will begin baby sitting an 88 911 Commemorative Edition while its owner (son) is in Baghdad.
I never crawl under a vehicle solely on jack stands anyway. They're probably robust enough, but I prefer to set the car up so that each raised wheel is on a wooden pedestal(s). Each 17" long pedestal is made made from four 2x10 sections screwed together. Pedestals can be stacked to get the car quite high off the ground, so that I can safely do most any kind of work. Right now I have a 928 24" off the ground on jackstands with wheels removed, but pedestals are under each lift point as a security measure. No worries here.
Regards
Mike

Most are just stamped steel. Im sure they flex a bit to the ground their on. They would have to be pretty robust to stand on 3 legs without flexing down to the fourth. And since they do flex they probrobly keep the shape. Then when you reposition them there a bit off and when weight is on them they sit down again. If you question them dont buy em. Or you can weld extra bracing to them. Or you can live with it and check them for cracks before you use em. If their new and warped you can blame that on being made in china

The thing is I hear that the jack stands from harbor freight are supposedly really good, like one of the few good things they sell.

For the price of those I could buy a lift ! 499 a pair for AC hydraulic stands. For the equivalent height stands I got from Harb Freight.

Oshin, you are a grad student at UCSB and your first youtube is of jackstands? Just so we know you are human, take the camera to the beach tonight and catch a glimps of the sunset. It doesn't ever need girls in the picture. Just sun, sand, and surf. After you do that go the store and buy a grinder or heck, just a file, and grind off one of the two long legs. Before long you will have four legs that are all the same. Even if you have the leaning tower of pizza they will work.
