Before long you will have four legs that are all the same. Even if you have the leaning tower of pizza they will work.
Good advice, I didnt know if I could just get a grinder and grind it down.

Actually, they're $74 a piece from Ultimate Garage. So that's about $350 shipped for a set of 4. I use these for both my SC and my 964 and can have either car up on the 4 stands in 5 minutes. Rock solid, I can do whatever I want to the car without worry.

exactly 150 a pair...thats what i meant. And those are the 3 ton ones, i have decent 3 ton stands. I wanted the ones with lots of height (I get 32 inches with these stands). The equivalent AC ones are like 1000 dollars....might as well get a bend pak at that point.

Also those are a COPY of the AC stands. "..the original Chinese boxes..." lol no better than my chinese harbor freight stands im afraid.

Just for the record China can build very high quality stuff....they are just told not to. The specs they are given are for cheap stuff.

Oh, I thought you said $499 a pair.

I disagree, even the Chinese AC knockoffs are way better than those wobbly Harbor Freight things. To tell you the truth, I see no real difference in the Chinese knockoff and the real AC stands that I have. They're the exact same design and both are rated for way more weight than any 911 is going to dish out. I'd use them without hesitation. Have a $25 dollar head, buy a $25 Harbor Freight helmet, I always say.

Best wishes.

What do you think of the Craftsman 12 ton jackstands?

Because if you consider mine as crappy, then by analogy these must be crappy too.

I wouldn't say they're crappy, just not right for the application. So, it really boils down to the style of stand. I just prefer the flat top stands. They're inherently safer than the axle type stand for supporting a 911. I'm sure the Craftsman stands are fine for supporting a vehicle that is supported on solid axles but they're kind of dicey for the lift points on a 911. Just my opinion.

I wouldn't get hung up on the weight rating of the stands. Why do you need four 12 ton stands to support one 1.5 ton car?

Oh I think the flat top doesnt matter at all, it was THE BOTTOM of the stands that wobble. They have uneven legs. The only thing I liked about the AC stands were that the legs had circular bottoms. The only reason I got 12 ton stands is because 3 ton stands only lift so high. I wanted to get the car higher and the 12 ton stands usually go a lot higher in lift. Having a flat top isnt THAT much benefit IMHO, the car's jack points and solid and the ratchet like stands should be fine, you can even slip a small piece of wood or complient metal between the ratchet and the cars jack points if you are worried about that.

O-well, I know that I easily have over $3000.00 tied up in various size and types of jackstands. I have multiple sets of them, in everything from the normal 3ton models up to the 18ton models. For the most part, I don't "need" all of them in use at the same time, but still might have 2 or 3 different trucks or pieces of field equipment in the air at the same time. The American made, 18ton models have almost a 5' safe use range, but at times, I still need more room and have had to use additional bases to get the needed room. I prefer the "pin" type stands, but have the dead ratchet handle, through pin, and heavy screw type stands. I have the smaller of the 18ton models, the larger has about 7' range.
Whatever type of stands that you do have or acquire, just make sure that you USE them and use them safely. It is not a pretty picture. Just my thoughts.

The Craftsman ones are fine, I have had a set for years and they haven't given me problems. I haven't used them in a very long time, but when I was poor and living in Isla Vista and worked on people's cars to make extra cash I'd use em on all kinds of sketchy uneven, broken driveways, and never had a car fall on me!

Besides, Sears is great about replacing broken stuff, if you happened to get an uneven pair, just trade em for good ones.

Oshin,--I have a grinder. Drop up to the house and you can customize your stands to be FLAT on the bottom.
