Default OT: Rarest car you've seen on the road

I was lucky enough to be following an Aston Martin Zagato Volante this afternoon - awesome machine! Supposedly 37 built. And I wondered, what's the rarest car you've seen driving on the road (car shows, meets etc don't count - it has to be a random encounter). Let's see what you've seen!

I had a Bugatti Veyron pass me last Monday on the highway. First one I've seen on the road. He was in my lane behind me. I moved over, and he gave a burst of acceleration as he went by. Didn't take long to get from 70 to 100 or so mph.

I've lived in Jersey for 19 years and have yet to see a Pacer. Does that count?

Since I go to the Pebble Beach Concours every year, and see the "Tour" through the Forest of the cars, it's not a fair competition. But, I'll say that the rarest in all circumstances was the day I was driving my "lowly" Boxster S through Kanan when a Carrera GT coming my way, not only flashed me first AND waved, but it was Jay Leno. So how often does a Carrera GT flash at a Boxster, and to top it off, it's a international star?

20 some years ago I followed a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO and 250 GT across Wisconsin, headed to Elkhart Lake.

Default Rarest cars

A Bugatti Type 35, just north of Hillegom, Holland. I was stunned.

427 Cobra, waaaaay before all of the "Fakey-dos" hit the market! What a sight - and sound! The other, a 904 fitted with a 6-cylinder motor... Those, in addition to a whole bunch of cars that were so rare that I didn't know what the heck they were!

I was heading to my wife's family's place in Westchester County and a big blower Bentley went by me in the opposite direction heading torward the city. It was about a month before LeMans. I always wondered if he was driving it down to a shipper to send it over to France for the month of June.

What I would give to find one of these in good condition... Saw one at the British Car show last year... The 1965 TVR Griffith - 309 HP Ford V8 and 1500 lbs... A real rocket ship...

I don't know what kind of Ferraris he had, but Miles Davis had two of them. The day I moved to New York in '86, I was driving down the Henry Hudson in my '84 Nissan Sentra when I saw someone coming up behind me really fast. As he comes abreast of me I see it's Miles. And then he was gone, almost as fast as he left the stage when I had seen him a couple of months before.

I had read an interview with him in which he said he had two, and only one worked. But Columbia Records had been paying him a flat $300,000 per year since the early '60s, so he could pretty much afford what he wanted. He also said he drove as fast as he wanted, and if the cops saw him they'd just say, aw ****, that's Miles.

Anyway, I'd say a Ferrari driven by Miles Davis is a pretty rare car.

I live near a lambo/Ferrari dealer and one of the sales people use my cul de sac for his route, and they change drivers in front of my house. Its pretty funny as we crack jokes about whose birthday it is. Or, "aw honey, not a yellow one! third one this month!

They have a lot of very nice cars rolling down my street, Nothing real exotic though.
