The car was real straight and totally stock. The exporter is Matthias Sonnen who owns a Porsche dealership in Mill Valley (Sonnen Porsche) which is a upscale community just north of San Francisco. He and his son Peter saw his for sale add, contacted him liked the car and did the deal. I believe it changed hands for about $11,500. They buy air cooled good condition 1980's and perhaps earlier cars. These cars must go for a lot more in Europe to pay that amount, pay the import fees and the shipping and still make money? I have two numbers to call 415-460-4100 and 415 519-3322. Curt
Only $11500? That's nothing special and the price certainly didn't do your friend any favors. Sounds like the exporter is the only one who's doing well in this transaction.

I agree, Chris, somebody laughed all the way to the bank on that one, and it sure wasn't the first seller...

Hi Guys,

from the $ prices I see often talked about on here, it seems like SC's are not all that far off being twice the price here in the UK. Even with shipping and taxes you'd stand to make good money on a clean car if you shipped it over here before selling it.

a pretty decent SC will set you back about £12,000 (100,000+ miles) and if you had a really clean, corrosion free car from a dry state it great condition you could ask more, although being an import will lessen the value slightly.

the cheapest SC's for sale over here, and these are eBay parts cars in every sense, are around £5000
