Default Any experience or impressions of M and K Exhaust ?

Hello all,

I'm shopping around for a new sport muffler for my 1987 911 Carrera coupe. I have looked at all the usual suspects, but also recently came across M and K Exhaust.

I haven't been able to find much feedback on their components. I am considering taking the plunge and buying one of their mufflers.

Has anyone bought thier stuff before? Any feedback, good, bad, or indifferent?

Thanks to all!

I have no affiliation, but lots of folks over on Pelican have them, and I've heard nothing but positive feedback. Do a search over there, and you'll get lots of info. Hope this helps.

Search on Pelican, lots of info there. Lots of people using his exhausts too. Everyone seems very happy with his product. Nice guy too. Gave me a great price on a new TiAL wastegate. His name is Ben. here's an example of his custum work: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=395157

I bought one of Ben's fully polished 1-in / 1-out mufflers for my '84. The sound is good, for a muffler. EDIT: If you want to hear it after I get the clutch replaced, lemme know, I'm in RI / SE Mass area.

I went from stock w/ orig. cat, to stock w/ Fabspeed Euro pre-muffler, to a Bursch, to a Fabspeed muffler bypass, then to the M&K. I switch back & forth between Ben's & the dump tip during the summer.

All of the packing blew out of my muffler right after installation. Ben offered to take it back & "fix" it, but I liked it louder anyway, so I kept it the way it is. I would give it a "buy" rating. Now, I think the setup I heard on a 3.6L transplant was a full B&B exhaust, and that sounds very nice to me. Just not THOUSANDS of $$ worth of nice enough to replace Ben's.

After much research, I went the M&K (1in 1out) route.

It was LOUD when first installed, but has since quieted down a bit (or maybe I'm just used to it).

My 84 has a SW chip, catbypass as well...I would also listen along to Ed Hughes' car clips, he has the SSI setup - good lord!

Here is some youtube love of my pcar...

Default Thanks guys

Hey Guys,

Great feedback! Thanks to all for the input. I have since corresponded with Ben, and he tells me that if I am not happy with the muffler because it is too loud I can return it.

Now I don't have any excuses NOT to order one. I'll be ordering it within a week. When it arrives I'll post some pics for all to enjoy.

Thanks again!

I've had both the B&B dual out and now have the M & K single out and both are loud! But I LOVE IT!

In my 3.2L I have SSIs and the 2in2out M&K pipe, it's LOUD! Plus it kind of drones under 3000RPM. Here's the good news, M&K sells a cap to cap one side and then it's much more acceptable and the drone is GONE. I love the pipe because I have best of both worlds, remove the cap and have fun, scares the crap out of others above 4000RPMs. Cap one side and sit back and take those longer trips.

Other down side is the 2out needs a new rear valance or the stock one modified.

Bottom line for me is buy the 2 out pipe with the cap option.

Attached is a picture of my pipe

Just took delivery today of a joint project between Ben and Brian AKA (RarelyL8) a beautifully crafted SSI system with a custom Y pipe assembly. Great folks to deal with...honest, experienced craftsmen, and responsive to any questions or issues. I'm going to have to modify my signature on the Slant to a few more non stock items.
