Default Dansk Muffler, issue with straps

Purchased a Dansk Sport Muffler for the SC, everything was going well until I tried to install new straps: they're too short. When I measured circumference of the new muffler, it was about 1" larger than the original.

Looking for a solution, and I am thinking about either getting a longer strap fabricated or possibly trying to have the factory straps lengthened somehow.

Anyone else have experience with this issue?

are they the dansk-supplied straps? if so i'd send 'em back, if not then dansk should have supplied straps

i had the same issue with my monty...except the monty-supplied straps were too long (i still have them). ended up using the old porsche ones

Straps were supplied with the muffler, they're OEM and the only ones available. Performance Products will take them back, but that doesn't solve my problem.

The OEs are 21" with the ends bent 90" (see diagram). If yours are around 22.5" they'd work. Thanks for the offer!

I suggest you not try to extend the straps by welding in a piece. They are tightened very tight and may break when hot under a load. Just the safety part of me talking. I'd find the correct ones (length) no matter how long it takes.

Good luck.

Excellent point. I am also going to see if an extra long bolt is available to do the trick.

I thank you and will let you know. Just used a 100mm long bolt and everything seems to be together. I hope to get some test miles in on Sunday.

I would go with the solution in the last post from 2008 - use a much longer bolt.
