In short, I believe that the 3.2 is the last of the old school "visceral" 911s, and the 964 is the first "new school" attempt by Porsche to make the 911 more appealing to the masses. As a DD, I would have to go with the 964 because of the creature comforts. It still has plenty of 911 soul, but has lost a little bit in the transition...

And this is why I want to have an SC in the garage as my "throwback" 911 weekend car... It was just so raw!

My $0.02,
-Blake
Great info Blake, this pretty much sums it up.

Honestly, I don't know of a better sports car for the snow than a 911. Here's a good video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OekJdxidRMY

Yes, no issues really except the locks would freeze up after I washed it if it were below 0F.

One thing to keep in mind though is that these air-cooled engines will rarely run hotter than 176F if the temperature is very cold outside, so it's a good idea to never skip an oil change interval if you live in the Canada/arctic.

Amazing how that Porsche handled in the snow. It would of been interesting to see an older 3.2 in that snow. Still very impressive. Thanks Murphy.

The 964 is a better value. The Carrera has the classic 911 impact-bumper look, and is depreciating less quickly than the 964. In terms of suspension, quality-of-life amenities like power steering and AC, and even aero design, the 964 is a big leap forward from the Carrera.

the 964 is a big leap forward like Mao's dying gasp at reforming communism. addressed some immediate political (delayed product dev) issues while failing at long-term vision... that's why it was superceded so soon. just my personal observation, of course... now, back to tiling my garage...
