Post Thread Release

Does any one know a good product to use on frozen nuts and bolts? I read about one someone recommended, but I don't remember where.
Thanks,
Tim

WD-40 is good...just make sure to be careful around painted surfaces. Carb cleaner works very well...NO PAINTED SURFACE...it will remove the paint!

Hard to beat soaking parts in ATF (Dexron) overnight. It works great on rusted (Minnesota gold) parts. Again, keep off of painted surface.

Try the SWEPCO penetrating oil, which works best if you spray it on and leave it overnight.

Then, there's always the "hot wrench," but the torch isn't safe everywhere.

A product called PB B'laster (stupid spelling, I know) works good. Kinda foamy. Works better than Liquid Wrench (which kinda doesn't work). Should be able to find it at most auto parts chain stores. Pep BoyZ is the local chain with which I am blessed.

Hi,

I use break fluid with excellent results. Much better than the usual spray - stuff.

PB blaster is very good. Many machine shops use "Kroil" it is very highly rated but hard to find.

Wurth makes an excellent product called "Rost Off", I've had a can of it for about 6-7 years now and use it from time to time.

The cool thing about this stuff is that is foams up when you spray it on your victim (rusted threads/nuts/bolts)...so that kind of gives it "hang time" to work on the part vice using WD-40 and having it drip off almost immediately.

I haven't seen it in a catalog lately, but if anyone knows a good source for Wurth products that they've seen/found here recently, please share it with me as I am presently out of RED loctite...and there's is the ticket.
