I'm under the impression that in the ROW cars, at least 1980 and prior, that the side marker light was optional. I have lots of pictures of euro cars with no side marker lights and the same little rubber bumperettes that block off the bumper mounted turn signals. In other words, just like mine. There is no evidence of the marker light being removed on my car even on the inside of the fender. No repair on the inside and no wiring. I looked as I wondered too.

Anyway you slice it, it looks much better without the side marker lights in my opinion.

Edit: To be clear, my car is 28 years old and was re-painted somewhere down the line. Who know's what's been done to it. I'll defer to Pete's knowledge and experience.

Only the 204 HP cars with the 9.8:1 compression ratio (1981-1983) had the fender lights. His is a 1980 model with the 8.6:1 pistons.

Here's an explanation on the European seats--With the chilly climate Europeans tend to favor the velour seats over leather. As a result, more of the Euro models are equiped accordingly.

Whoops! So right, side mounted T/S lamps started in '81...

Personally, I love the Pascha (Op-art) interior. I think it gives it that true period look. I just yesterday bought an 84 Cabrio (which I'll post about separately), but I'd say keep the interior and bring the funk.

I absolutely love the Pascha interior. It's very, very cool in my opinion. Sadly, it's coming out as this will be dedicated track car. I'll save it all, though. I already have a friend begging me for the seats, but I've told him I want to hang on to them. Unfortunatley, I'm sure I can't get that pattern in nomex on a pair of Recaro SPGs.... I would if I could. I'll probably leave the Pascha bottom rear seat pads in just to remind me.
