Just my $0.02cdn
It's true - the 986 and 996 share the same front end. They did that on purpose. And many enthusiasts went ape ****!

I do think the 911 should always look the same, but agree that they can and should try to build other styled cars.

I took my family to the Cleveland Car Show on Sunday and was less than
impressed with the offerings. I loved the Audi A5, but at $50k for the 265hp
model, it's way more than I want to pay, especially with a son going to
college in two years. Even the BMW 135 had a base price of $35k which I
thought was a little high for an entry model. I just wonder who is buying all
of these high end cars? The Boxter's / Cayman's are running $60 - 70k
and I have to agree with Shannon, the current Porsche's all look the same
from the front. I wonder if moving to the water cooled engine which req'd
the use of radiator's didn't tie their design hands? I'll continue to look for
an 80's 911 which will provide me with the same level of enjoyment at a
much lower cost. Thanks!

Someone here will chime in and given the reason why Porsche wanted to make all the front-ends the same.
