Default Experience with anodizing window frames?

Hi All,
I'm looking for anyone with information on anodizing my side door window frames black. Since the cost of new replacements is close to $2500.oo each (ouch) I am looking for a shop that has expierence on Porsches and is familiar with anodizing the frames black to match the rest of the trim on the vehicle. Any information / experiences would be appreciated.

I even did a few other items at the same time, such as the grills in the tail and the cowl vent.
BTW, my wondow frames wre silver/chrome b/c I swapped out the original rear windows for the opening type.
Shop did a great job, but they are now gone.

I received a recommendation from Harvey Wiedman of Wiedman's wheels to look up Anobrite for reanodizing my window frames.

I think this is them:

I've heard that company recommended before - maybe search Pelican to see what for.

Powder coat will never look the same as anodized black.

Even Porsche abandoned the anodizing method by 1980 or thereabouts. The anodizing would fade in no time. Powder coat is consistent and lasts far longer. The results are first rate.

Its hard to get any "build" on sharp edges like window frames with powder coating. Try paulschrome.com. If they can't do it they can probably suggest someone who can.

you should look at some examples of each - see what look you want

anodizing may not last long in the hot Calif. sun, but it does last for quite a few years in the cloudy NW - doesn't mean you will like that look...

Rick got the answer from PCA

All of the black window trim on my 1979 Turbo car has begun to fade (as is the usual case). I have purchased the front, rear and quarter window trim, however the door window frames are now cost prohibative. I have heard from some PCA members that Porsche went to powder coating sometime in the eighties, other members state that the trim has always been anodized. My question is: what finish is on the new trim pieces that I recently purchased from Porsche? I want to have the door frames finished with the same process! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Rick Branka

Our shop was part of the recall on anodize trim fading to purple/pewter.The trim would fade shortly after complete and expensive replacement. We would sand the frames and winshield trim and respray with semi gloss urethane. In 1981 all the trim was finished in electro static baked enamel. You can repaint this trim with Wurth satin black window trim paint. It looks the same as new anodizing. You must rough up the surface with 220 -400 grit wet or dry paper. The frames can be refinished without removal from the door. The top strip on the door snaps off with little effort to refinish..The parts can also be sprayed with Dupli-color semi-gloss black.
