KEYBOARD PROBLEMS! At any rate, I want to know how the domestic carpet kit compares to the german silver knit. There is quite a difference in price. Also, I am considering a rollbar but am concerned that it would make my backseat completely useless to my young son. Any input on either subject is appreciated.

I purchased the Sliverknit from Orig Fit several months back and just finished installing it last night. Seemed comparable to the original carpet in both quality and color (cork); however if expedience is an issue, maybe think twice, as it took him 2 1/2 months to get me my kit!.

AZSC,
Can I ask what you paid for your kit and do you have any before/after photos? Carpet in my 79SC Coupe is on its last legs. How did the install go?

Slider-

I think $465 plus ~$15 shipping. I documented the process but at a resolution not supported by this site. It took patience and frequent reference to the article on the Pelican site re: interior refurbish. In summary, it was an enjoyable project and I would recommend this job to anyone wanting to save ~8hrs $$ labor that my local shops wanted to charge. It was a very satisfying project, especially given the "new car smell"...

thanks. If its the same article, it was very comprehensive and helpful. However, didn't that guy use a Perlon product? By the way its described, it doens't seem to match the so-called carpet I have in my car. Does the Sliverknit have more of a carpet look and feel? Even if they are different products, I presume the install is similar?

Joe-

Yeah, he used the domestic stuff, which I believe is actualy harder to install because it is less flexible (lots of compound corners to conform to!) The sliverkit is extremely soft, like a heavy pile velour, and easy to work with. If your carpet is the original, then it is indeed sliverknit...

thanks Kevin. Just saw your separate post about Original Fit's "priority" issues. Appreciate the heads up.
