Cool 89 911 turbo at Barrett-Jackson

I just watched an 89 911 turbo cab owned by Wayne Gretzky with 38,000 miles go across the auction block. It brought 50 grand, or 55,000 with the auction fee included. It was an immaculate Linen Grey over Grey with period RUF wheels. I considered it a reasonable price for a 930 cab in that condition, but again its hard to value a low-mileage G50 turbo with celebrity ownership.

Interesting to see a P-car at Barrett-Jackson - you don't see many of them there, or any German cars for that matter.

$50K USD is perfectly acceptable for a 1989 G50 930 cabrio with 38K miles and no celebrity ownership, so the fact that probably the most famous hockey player in history owned it, IMHO still means nothing.......but to someone else it may...........in fact.....it is a good thing Richard Sloan did't get a hold of this car....then it would be a Hundred Billion Dollars !!!!!!

My brother bought an 89 cab 930 that he bought at a Mike Tyson auction, I think he paid 24K.

With the latter, you could time your decisions regarding when it's best to try and buy and sell by watching the evening news. Been a while since he's been in trouble -- tell your brother to just wait a while.

this years auction showed two interesting trends...the market for american muscle cars, which has been climbing into stupid money range, burst loudly as seen by a hugh price drop and the shameless 'pumping' by the auctioneers...however, what few purebred european cars managed to get to the podium, were commanding higher prices than last year...it would appear to be a classic race to quality...

Somebody bought an '04 Cab w/flood damage title for $53K plus 8% buyers fee at BJ this year. It looked like a nice car but all of the doors were locked so I couldn't inspect it.
