Default DME Chips---Need to be installed in a certain way?

So the chip looks symmetric so I assume that the orientation in which it is placed into the chip frame in the motronic DME module does not matter. I hope my DME doesn't catch fire Anyone know if it matters or not?

Ok then I guess I had just guessed correctly because the car just started up right away. I do notice a slight loss in horsepower from switching to stock from the weltmeister chip. The car does shift a little more smooth though, or at least it seems that way. I don't really like the weltmeister chip, and if anyone wants it I will sell it cheap. I think if I ever get a chip it would be a steve wong chip. I'm not really into chips much though. Anyways thanks for the input.

most likely his won't fit yours.
yours is a 28 and his is most likely a 24, maybe not though.
open and count the prongs just so you know when you do buy one.

I looked on Performance and it seemed to tell me that that chip was not available for my car. I figured '87 and '88 were identicle....oh well, I do have other projects.....

So the '87's could have the 24 or 28 but the '88's are all 28 pin. Very interesting playing with that on the Performance Products web site......thanks Jerry

Doug, save your money for a Steve W chip. The Welts don't get much good press.
