Default 911 3.0 SC motor needs repair

hi,

I'm over on the 930 forum. a friend of mine has a 1976 3l sc which motor he recently stuffed up (looong story) he is looking for a crankshaft and conrods. He has tried here in South Afrca and apart from going to OPC the choices are limited.

I was hoping that one of you have a supply source for these items (new or used) or can point me in the right direction (anywhere in the world would do at this stage). Alternatively if anyone has a complete 3l or 3.2l motor available, that would be a consideration.

Any help will be highly appreciated by my rather sad and despondant mate.

cheers
Mo

try searching porsche dismantlers like: "L A Porsche Dismantlers" or put it in a box and send it to a site sponsor like steve Weiner.

- it is a row car so may well be a 3L in '76

- shipping to Steve in Oregon will cost a fortune

- you might check to see if anyone in Australia has the items -- maybe a dealer in SA?

plenty in sydney but try http://www.swanporsche.com.au/ and http://www.ktecauto.com.au/

both are based in perth, western australia which is a hell of a lot closer to SA than Sydney

Hi Mo,

Speak to Mario @ M&R Motors in Selby 011 493 5752, or contact the Porsche Club.

Cheers.

hi guys,

thanks for the quick responces. I am trying to get a hold of the engine no. to verify the year and capacity. We are trying all the local sources like markus, mario, carrera, john abbot and cafe9 first. the biggest issue here seems to be the crank. any ideas where to look?

I have rods and a crank out of my 1981 RoW 3.0l I might be willing to part with. Don't know if shipping, from California, would ream you though. The crank is beautiful and the bearing looked perfect when it was removed. The rods need only need new bushings. The engine had many broken ex. head studs and a broken piston ring land. The bottom end is good. In fact the rod's are still on the crank. I will probably try and get rid of the motor as a package first, but if this doesn't happen, or I was offered the right price I might let them go.

I have a 1980 3.0L engine I am selling I would be willing to sell it as a long block and ship it down to you. I could probably take it directly to the port here in Philadelphia. Here is a link with a bunch of photos and more information:

Regardless good luck on the hunt.

If it's a '76 Carrera 3.0 (or 930 3.0), then the crank and rods are the same as a 2.7 (or 2.4).
