Yeah, I'm a bit sketched out, I'm going to check out the white 89 on Friday. I can't wait, I hope it's in good condition, it seems fine, I'm also excited, I haven't driven a G50 yet, they are usually out of my price range.

let the G50 warm up before you form an oppinion about it. it is stiff when cold but smooth as glass when hot. you will know when you are in gear 'cause it sucks it right it. nice once you get to know it but tricky at first.

Alright cool, thanks for the tip. I'm pretty used to the 915 at this point, and I hear from most people the G50 is better, so I'm really excited.

Hogan, the car sounds like a pretty good deal if the PPI checks out. Since it's listed for $14k, I would ask $13k for it.

Smoke on startup = normal. What might be an issue, however, is oil consumption, and the only way to test this to have the PPI do a compression/leakdown and full inspection of the valve guides.

Respray = not good. No paint job on these cars will ever be as good as the original, so selling it in the future might be a problem.

Mileage = not good. Again, nothing to be alarmed about, but selling it will be difficult in the future.

All 911s are $20,000 cars, so keep this in mind. This means that if you spend $13k, you'll spend another $7k to get it up to snuff. $2k of this might be in the AC, but a clutch could cost $3k, and trans rebuild could cost $4k (you said there might be a synchro issue), etc.

So anyway, if your budget is less than $15k, then I would recommend you find a 944 Turbo that is well sorted, rather than a 911, because I think you will end up with a better, faster car with less repairs.
