I lived on 14th right off Colfax and was 20 minutes from the high roads on out of Denver. Buy what turns your crank.

I must say it depends on what you desire from the car. Easy to buy yet not so easy to maintain.

Have you gone to PCA events where you can see and speak with owners. Often 930 show up for sale.

Is there anything preventing you from buying from long distance? Research, Order a PPI. Meet at the shop. You will be happy whether the car passes or fails.

Test drives are going to be important to match your taste with the car. I would do it in the summer.

Not long ago I was asking the same thing "stay w/ my 88 cab or go with a 930"?

I posted that question on pelican and got some good feedback http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...hreadid=331670

While I really like the 930 (84-89) I chose a 993, but I still think about that 930 that got away.

The 3.2, 930 and 993 are all special in their own way, and each w/ a certain downside.

Good luck

I think that line above pretty much sums up any porsche purchase...

4 gears is not enough for a 150 mph car.
Just found out my 930 was bought by a fellow in Germany and is now on its way home. It will love those Autobahns, which is where it belongs.

Awesome car, like new inside, outside, and mechanically.

Put your CHECKBOOK DOWN and step AWAY FROM THE TURBO !!

Just kidding, I had an 87 guards red Carrera that was a blast, but I think it had some valve guide prob considering how much oil it went through

I now have an 82 930 unmolested Turbo that is a blast to drive or just to look at. I vote for the turbo ....I think they are worth the extra money.

Default I vote Turbo.....

but I might be biased.......

Money pit? I don't agree.....I have replaced a lot of stuff, but to make the car into what I wanted, not because I had to. It was running great, bone stock.

Buy what you like. I have wanted a turbo since I was 13, and now I have one. Motors aside, I think the wide body of the 930 is the most aggressive, sexy car ever made....and it makes me smile every time I see it, and it makes me hold on every time I hit boost! With a few mods, boost lag is greatly reduced and to be honest, not having boost below 2600rpm makes the car that much easier in traffic, and around town. I don't notice the clutch as heavy.....I had a modified 2.7 targa, and that clutch was much stiffer than the 930.

Good luck!
