I hear ya, but do you really want to re-dye the whole seat, and likely both seats, over a little scratch? If it were me, I'd try something less drastic first, and if didn't work then I'd "break out the bazooka."

Could the scratch have been caused by a cell phone, etc. attached to someone's belt? I've gotten in the habit of removing my phone before I sit in my 911.

Looks like what ever did it - did it four or five times before - the gash was just the crowning achievement.

My guess - in that location would be a stud that has come loose or bent on a pair of jeans. Right side pocket.

Nope, no cell pones. My wife keeps hers in her purse. The only other guy that very occasionally rides in it has no cell phone.
Neither one wears jeans with rivets.

I'm still stumped over what could have caused it. I've been over everything.
